Ballet is the core subject of all dance and the pupils learn about posture, technique and disipline. We follow the R.A.D syllabus which takes pupils through the basic technique and prepares them for major grades and is important should they wish to progress onto a vocational school. Pupils often start Ballet at a young age and progress through the grades. Some pupils will get the opportunity to take exams once they are ready to move up from their grade. In other dance genres, the pupils who also do Ballet often excel quicker and have a stronger technique to apply to all their other dance classes.
To partake in R.A.D Ballet exams, Grade 1-6 pupils must be attending two graded classes a week and at least 3 classes a week for Vocational grades (Intermediate Foundation upwards).
Alongside the syllabus class we now offer extra Ballet Coaching.
Please click here for more information on this. This is for pupils already doing R.A.D classes and looking to work on their technique furthur.
All pupils are encouraged to take ballet as a core subject and then partake in extra coaching. It is compulsory for Showteam members to take at least two ballet classes a week.
